When Daddy's Away...

The Maddy and Mommy will play! While Daddy was out of town for a conference, Maddy had an action-packed weekend of shopping with mommy at the mall and for groceries (one of her favorite things to do) and spending lots of time in- and outdoors playing like crazy! We also snuck in a visit to the local Kerber's farm for homemade ice cream and a visit with the farm animals plus a trip to Pittsburgh to see the Phipps Conservatory. As always, Maddy was wide-eyed and adorable, batting those big browns for all.

Maddy is almost at the 8.5 months old mark!
She has some new favorite words, including dogg-og and keyyy cat.
All objects have entered the "no holds barred stage": if it's within her tiny arm's reach, it's fair game for her to pinch, pull, pluck, squeeze and, inevitably, chew.
In fact, right now, she's sitting on my lab trying to gnaw on the edge of the desk.

Maddy: 8 Months!

Boy oh boy have I been a busy girl lately. So much has changed in just eight months. Mommy no longer has to trick me into swallowing that orange and yellow squishy stuff--I actually think it tastes pretty good! And I made friends with that walking furry orange animal they call Lucy dog. I think it's fun to pull her tail and pet her head. She likes to stand near me, especially when I eat. She must like the way I swallow my food! I also started seeing my legs again and love to rub and rub them in the grass. It tickles a little but it's worth it! I also started calling those two who run around me all day by name: mum-mum and da-da-da-da. Here are some other fun facts about me:

New Developments: Learning to clap and hold her own bottle
New Big Girl Steps: No longer needs a wedge to sleep in her big girl bed at night, takes fewer but bigger bottles (about 4, 6-8 oz. bottles a day) with three helpings of big girl food a day
New Foods: Squash & sweet potatoes
Favorite Toy: Cookie Monster, Inchy, Minnie Mouse, Jumper-oo and Exersaucer
Favorite Activities: Loves to dance, sing and explore everything with her hands and mouth
